Ideas for toddler/preschooler age seats

Two families share their ideas for independent sitting as a child gets into the toddler/preschool stage.

The Parker family suggests the Bilibo.  Their daughter Emylie (2 years old) just recently got one and they are loving it!  Her mom shares, “I found this on the toys r us website. I got it for Emylie thinking it would be good for support on her back while sitting on the floor yet I wouldn’t have to worry about her falling out (like a chair). When we got the bilibo and she sat in it, I realized it was going to give her a work out. The bottom is rounded so she has to use her trunk muscles to keep her from falling. It gives her support and exercise at the same time.

The Kongaika Family suggest another great seating option.  This chair is called an educube.  Lily’s mom says she likes it “because Lily is surrounded on three sides.  Whenever she sits down in it (usually up to a low table or ottoman in the house)  she seems at ease.  I also feel like I don’t have to sit right next to her for her activity.  I can be close by, but doing my own thing while she does hers.”  This chair can be purchased through more than one place.  The Kongaikas used  It can also be found on

We have shared other seating options for infants in a previous post.  To read that post click here.

I stumbled upon this post today while looking into mobility options for my daughter. I had to laught. We were given two of these a few years ago for our older children. They have loved playing with them. In the pool, bathtub, spinning on the floor, on their heads, and sledding. I can’t wait to get them out of storage and try them for our SB daugther.
