Susan Laughs

A Book Review:  Susan Laughs, by Jeanne Willis

A very sweet book about a girl named Susan.  She laughs, she sings, she plays, she swims, she does lots of things.  What we don’t find out until the last page is that Susan uses a wheelchair.

This is a great book.  In my opinion it teaches a wonderful lesson about children who use wheelchairs: that they are more like other children than they are different.  It gives other children an opportunity to first meet the child and then the wheelchair.  I am glad that I own the book.  It would be a great one to read to preschoolers or kindergartners to introduce your child.
